Our Story

The Department of Defense Form 214, better known as the DD-214, marks the end of

military service and the beginning of a new chapter.

Beyond 214 was built on that transition.

What started as a way to highlight veteran-owned brands has grown into something more personal, a place where craftsmanship, purpose, and story come together. Today, Beyond 214 focuses on handcrafted wood and laser-engraved pieces, each one designed to carry meaning, whether it’s kept, gifted, or passed on. Every piece we create reflects where we’ve been, what we value, and the belief that the next chapter should be just as meaningful as the last.

Jon and Valarie are now both retired from the United States Air Force and are raising their two daughters while building a life rooted in purpose beyond the uniform. Beyond 214 is a reflection of that journey, creating meaningful work, embracing family, and continuing to serve in a different way.

At the heart of that purpose is a deep respect for Gold Star families. Their sacrifice is never forgotten, and while nothing can replace what they’ve lost, honoring their loved ones and keeping their stories alive will always matter.

We are proud to carry forward the foundation built by the original owners, Zane and Mindy, while shaping Beyond 214 into a brand that creates, not just curates.
